ABOUT MDAs
Mullerian Ducts are paired ducts that form the Uterus, Fallopian Tubes and Upper Vagina during embryological development.
MDAs are rare developmental anomalies of the female reproductive tract. They can occur due to errors in:
1. Formation of 1 or both Mullerian Ducts
2. Fusion of Ducts
3. Resorption of the septum between Ducts
There is no universal classification, however the American Fertility Society (AFS) classification is the most widely recognised and utilised.
AFS has 7 classifications of MDAs. This is a collection of 5 models illustrating the standard anatomy for comparison and 2 examples of Mullerian Duct Anomalies:
